Start Me Up is a program that’s been helping entrepreneurs of all backgrounds launch their ideas for over 13 years. Our goal is to empower as many students as we can through entrepreneurship. This is done through three different sets of programming.

Startup School is weekly entrepreneurship workshops that are taught by industry professionals in the DMZ Sandbox/Online. Topics include design thinking, finding investors and building a team.

The next program is the Slaight New Venture Competition which is a startup competition where entrepreneurs from the Ted Rogers School of Management pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. Two prizes of $25,000 are awarded to one entrepreneur who identifies as female and one entrepreneur who identifies as male.

The third program is Youth Entrepreneurship Opportunities which is a mentorship and education program for high-school students. Youth Entrepreneurship Opportunities uses a flexible, user-centric curriculum to meet the needs of a younger audience. Students are taught how to use their time efficiently as well as how to leverage social media platforms to build a business or brand.

At its core project Start Me Up aims to provide entrepreneurs the knowledge, funding, and tools they need to turn their ideas into a reality.

BITS

Project BITS was created with a vision to make financial literacy more accessible on campus. Through our workshops, our peers are empowered to make better financial decisions and can set themselves up for a more successful future.

The core of our curriculum covers Budgeting, Investing, Taxation, and Savings, where we work with industry professionals to create the necessary tools and resources available for students at Ryerson to develop a thorough understanding of each topic.

Our content is also available through our YouTube Channel, where additional content is publicly available to increase accessibility for our students.

Financial education is essential for individuals of all ages – it’s important that students understand how to make the best use of their money and are given guidance to make informed financial decisions.
